Free Blue Rocks Tickets??

Free Blue Rocks tickets anyone?! I have one even better!! How about scoring free Blue Rocks tickets and getting your child to read for at least 10 hours this summer? That's exactly what the New Castle County Libraries are offering for their summer reading challenge. Any child from birth on up can participate in this program. They ask for them to read for 10 hours and then they will be rewarded with 2 free Blue Rocks tickets. While the Blue Rocks may not be the Phillies, we have always had lots of fun watching them play. We don't have to sit in much traffic to get to the stadium or pay an arm and a leg for parking and the concessions are *somewhat* reasonably priced.
**BONUS! When you sign up for summer reading, there is a bookmark from Texas Roadhouse included in your take-home folder. When your child has read 3 books, they qualify for a free kids meal at their restaurant!

If you haven't signed your child up for summer reading, get to your nearest library SOON! The challenge ends August 11th so there is still plenty of time to get 10 hours of reading time in!

Battery Park Summer Concerts

Now through August 8th, Battery Park will be hosting summer concerts every Wednesday night. For those that aren't particular about listening to a certain kind of music, this is a perfect outing for several reasons.

  1. It's free. I don't think I need to go any further with this.
  2. Kid friendly. Because it is at the park, the kids will be able to listen to the music or run themselves around until they get tired.
  3. Relaxing. Battery Park has beautiful views. I love to watch the sunset there. Add a blanket to lay out on, some food, and music, and we have a perfect evening.
I'm not sure what kind of music will be played here - especially since there is a different performer each week - but it's all going to be family friendly. Everyone is sure to have a great time!

Friendly's $2 Summer Deals

I'm all for a good deal - especially when it comes to eating out. It doesn't take much for a family meal to cost $30 or more! Which is why I'm excited for Friendly's $2 deals on Tuesdays. Every Tuesday, for lunch or dinner, they are offering something on their menu for only $2. Yesterday, you could score a kids meal for only $2. Two weeks ago, they were offering a quarter pounder cheeseburger for only $2! You can't beat that!

One of his favorite things to do is to eat out - so we will definitely be taking advantage of Friendly's $2 deals.

Mooommmmm, I'm BORED!

Hi and welcome to my new blog!

When I had my son, I knew that I never wanted to hear the words "I'm bored" coming out of his mouth. So, literally since day 1, we've been hitting the streets - going to festivals, parties, carnivals, wherever! All within a budget! Which brings me to my next point - I find that I still hear people say that they don't know what they can do with their kids. They don't hear about local events until after the fact or even at all. Which is unfortunate, because in my experience, we have done some very cool things at minimal cost (see pictures below). Being that Delaware is such a small state, we have the benefit of having many things in close proximity to us (in and out of state).

It's my hope that with this blog, I can bring awareness to what there is to do with your kids. Some outings may cost some money and many will not. I like to mix it up because kids are NOT cheap! In my experience, my son appreciates visiting Glasgow Park during National Night Out (where we pay absolutely nothing) just as much as he enjoys visiting an amusement park (where the cost is at your discretion).

With all of that being said, I hope that you'll enjoy what is to come! Please don't forget to subscribe and any comments or questions are welcomed! I'm excited for our next adventure!
